I used to call my ex 'moon pie' and that was gotten from 'Young Sheldon-the series'—the love his grandmother had for him. The whole idea of endearing names is that no one understands them. This is such a great piece!
And on a normal day, that’s already a high compliment in a society where “aging like fine wine” is one of the nicest things you can say about someone.
I was listening to this Substack while doing the dishes, grinning from ear to ear, because it transported me right back to several conversations I’ve had with my man.
Especially one from this past weekend.
We were doing what people in love do best: arguing over who loves the other more.
“I love you.”
“I love you more.”
“I love you much more.”
“I love you to eternity.”
“I love you to infinity.”
“I can’t even quantify how much I love you.”
I digress.
Mine calls me “fine wine.”
But for us, it means something much deeper than what the phrase usually means. It carries memories, context, history, and a meaning that belongs only to the two of us.
